August 15th was the day of the 76th end of the war. On Saipan Island, as this day is celebrated every year, a memorial monument is being cleaned up in the hope of memorial service and peace under the auspices of the local Japanese Association.
This year, on August 14, the Central Pacific War Dead Monument and Okinawa Tower in the Mappi area, and the Japanese War Dead Monument in the Susupe area were cleaned.
In Mariana, in addition to 43,000 Japanese troops at that time, 12,000 civilians, including Japanese immigrants from Okinawa and other islanders, were victims of the war. While more and more generations are unaware that there is a memorial on the southern island, 3200 kilometers away from Japan, the end of the war has come again this year, praying for peace on this island as well as the Japanese people.
The deep blue sea, the pure white sand, and the tropical flowers in full bloom. Saipan, the gateway to the Northern Mariana Islands, is about a three-and-a-half hour flight from Japan. Saipan is home to many spots full of tropical nature and rustic scenery with a nostalgic feel.
As of January 2024, United Airlines operates direct flights from Japan to Saipan three times a week from Narita.

HOT Festival Tinian Hot Pepper Festival!
This is a rare "chili pepper festival" held on Tinian Island, where the Tinian pepper, which is said to be the hottest in the world, is grown.
There are also food stalls using chili peppers and a chili pepper eating contest!
A ferry will be operated between Saipan and Tinian in conjunction with the event.
