Yusaku Maezawa, a businessman who stayed at the International Space Station for the first time as a Japanese civilian last year, said at a press conference after returning to Japan that "the Mariana Trench is next to space."
Thanks to that, Mariana has been a hot topic since then. Located in the Philippine Sea on the west side of the 14 Northern Mariana Islands, the Mariana Trench is the deepest trench in the world. So far, countries around the world have taken on the challenge of the deepest part of the globe. Water pressure beyond imagination in the darkness where sunlight does not reach. What kind of place is there? Is there a future in which general tourists can easily visit the unknown world of Deep Sea World? I'm excited. The Tourism Bureau is also paying close attention to Mr. Maezawa's future mission efforts.
Happy New Year. We look forward to your continued support in 2022.
In Saipan, many people worship the first sunrise of the year from Mount Tapochau, the highest peak in the Mariana Islands. The first sunrise of this year was blessed with fine weather, and the "angel's ladder" was seen, which was a beautiful coming light.
2022 May be a happy year for everyone. And I hope that many people will be able to easily travel to Mariana on overseas trips.
See you in Mariana this year!
2021 was also a year of being swayed by Corona, and in the end the situation where I could not go abroad continued. May I be able to go to my favorite Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan, Tinian, Rota) next year ....
With that wish in mind, the last post of this year will introduce the recommended online tour for the first time in the new year. Half price coupons are being distributed now. On New Year's Day, head to Mount Tapochau, the highest peak in Mariana! Let's worship the first sunrise a little earlier than Japan and wish for good luck! We hope you all have a good year!

The new procedure for entering the Northern Mariana Islands has been posted on the website of the Consular Office of Saipan, so I would like to share it with you.
Unfortunately, regardless of whether vaccination has been completed or not, all overseas customers will be required to undergo a PCR test at the airport upon arrival, and then voluntary isolation for at least 5 days will be provided at a government-designated facility (government-designated facility). Currently, we will go to Kanoa Resort Hotel / PIC). If positive, it is a 7-day quarantine measure. Since you will be responsible for the cost, it is unlikely that most people will be traveling at this time.
Also, if any changes occur in the future, we will share them with you.
It will be Christmas in 10 days. Christmas is also a special season on the southern island of Saipan.
Adding a gorgeous color to such a holiday season is Mount Carmel Cathedral, which was rebuilt in Chalan Kanoa in 1949 in Saipan.
Originally built in Garapan in 1907, it was bombed and destroyed by the U.S. military during World War II (aiming at Japanese supplies stored in the church). After that, in 1984, at the behest of the Pope, it was upgraded from the Mount Carmel Church to a cathedral.
As Christmas approaches each year, the beautiful Spanish-style buildings shine even brighter, signaling the arrival of the winter holiday season on the southern islands.

Japan is getting cold like winter. When it gets cold, you want to escape to the southern island of everlasting summer ...
It seems difficult to go abroad during the year-end and New Year holidays due to the corona. 😢
Far from the year-end and New Year holidays, I was shocked that I haven't been out of Japan for the past two years, but next year I want to relax on the beach while drinking delicious local beer in Saipan! I was thinking about it next year.
There is a delicious local beer called Ssaipan Brewing in Saipan, and you can compare it at the restaurant & bar called Saltys in Garapan. While eating the mariana-style loco moco, I found my favorite taste while saying spittoon with my friends, drinking, eating, laughing. I hope that such natural days will return next year.
At the end of November, the American Pizza Grill, which had been in business for many years in Garapan, the center of Saipan, was significantly renewed and reopened. The casual camping style shop that has been used up until now has been transformed into a Brooklyn-style shop in fashionable NY.
The owner of Cha Cafe next door, John Lee, seems to have worked on it as a new owner, and the concept is Italian & American.

The Autumn Festival of Saipan was held on Saturday, November 20th at Paseo de Marianas in Garapan. This autumn festival, which is sponsored by the Japanese Association, is an annual event that is loved not only by Japanese living on the island but also by the islanders. It is a valuable day to learn about Japanese culture through festivals such as shooting, yo-yo fishing, takoyaki, daifuku, and Bon festival dance. This continuous activity has led to the response of the islanders who welcome Japanese tourists, so I hope it will be an event that will be loved by the islanders forever.
Did you know that the Rota Coffee Plantation Revival Project is underway on Rota Island, the southernmost island of the Northern Mariana Islands? I'm sure no one knows, but in fact there was wild forest coffee in the jungle of Rota that even the Rota people didn't know about.
Mr. Onishi, the representative of the KFC Triathlon Club (= Ome City Triathlon Association), who launched the "Rota Blue Triathlon Tournament" that has continued for more than 20 years, noticed the existence of Rota Coffee and started the "Rota Coffee Project" from 2017. We have been working with the local government. Now, with the cooperation of UCC, one of Japan's largest coffee companies, we are working hard to grow and commercialize forest coffee.
The struggle record was released as an electronic book the other day. If you are interested, please read it.

According to the announcement by the International Union for Conservation of Nature, IUCN, 38543 species of creatures are currently endangered and are on the Red List. Here in the Northern Mariana Islands, there is also a lovely Mariana Crow, locally known as the aga, which is one of the listed species.
It inhabits only Rota Island (previously found in Guam), and its population is estimated to be only 200. On Rota Island, a research team at the University of Washington has launched the Mariana Crow Recovery Project to elucidate and address the causes of aga ecology, breeding, and decline.
Please search for it in the Mariana Crow Recovery Project.
Saipan City, Northern Mariana Islands Autonomous Federation, signed a sister city agreement with Katori City, Chiba Prefecture on October 29, 2021 (Friday). The signing ceremony was held in a peaceful manner, connecting Saipan City Hall and Katori City Hall online, and the mayors of both cities and all concerned gathered.
Katori City has Katori Jingu Shrine, which is the head office of Katori Shrines nationwide, and Saipan City has Saipan Katori Shrine, which is a branch of Katori Jingu Shrine. There was.

Saipan, Tinian and Rota, the three islands that represent the Mariana Islands. Rota Island, which is located in the southernmost part of the three islands, is home to the Rota Hall, which divers around the world long for. The sea is famous for its blueness and transparency, but it is also blessed with untouched nature, and the island is full of beautiful scenery.
The biggest festival on Rota Island, "Bisita Luta (Visit Rota)", was held in Songsong Village on October 6th and 7th. Held every October, this festival is full of opportunities to experience various rota cultures such as gourmet food, traditional culture such as dancing and singing, and island products.
