This week's Grand Canyon.
The first photo is Mercer Point. The average tourist comes especially from California and the same Arizona, which are accessible by car.
The second photo is the tour bus parking lot. As you can see, only our van was stopped.
Many Grand Canyon tours depart and arrive in Las Vegas, but since tourists from far away have not yet arrived in Las Vegas, it seems that it will take time to revive the bus tour.
In the Grand Canyon National Park, it is compulsory to wear a mask both inside and outside the facility, but many general tourists who have not been informed of this are not wearing masks at the observatory. ..
Sporting events are gradually reviving in the United States, but there are still many unattended events. The Allegiant Stadium, which was completed this summer, seems to have a long way to go with the audience. On Monday night, September 21st, the first match was at the Allegiant Stadium, home to the NFL team Raiders, who moved to Las Vegas this year. The result was a big victory over the superior opponent, and more than 60,000 fans who were supposed to watch the game live at the stadium would have been excited by watching TV with an invalid ticket. In Japan, the admission limit of 5,000 people for events such as watching sports has disappeared, and people are gradually becoming able to enjoy live performances, but I hope that American entertainment will be able to enjoy live performances in the near future. Especially here in Las Vegas, it's the most important issue!
On Monday, September 21st, we held a tour of Death Valley National Park for the first time in more than half a year.
The guest is a couple living in New York who came to Las Vegas for a trip and enjoyed sightseeing in the Grand Canyon and Death Valley.
Since the summer vacation in the United States was over and it was a weekday, I could hardly see people anywhere in the national park.
The photo shows "BAD WATER", the most popular spot in Death Valley National Park, but as you can see, there was no car in the parking lot and it was reserved for us. In the second photo, I could always see the high mountains in front of me, but I couldn't see the mountains because the smoke came to Death Valley due to the large wildfire in California.
Last month, I went to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.
There are several routes from Las Vegas, but it is approximately one and a half hours by car.
Due to the influence of corona, the park is vacant compared to the usual summer vacation, and although it is a sightseeing outside, many people wear masks.
Most of the cars we visit for sightseeing are in Utah, and the neighboring state of Nevada in Las Vegas.
It was a license plate in the southwest, such as Arizona and California, which are relatively close.
Various measures were taken everywhere in the park, such as signboards to prevent the spread of corona infection, closing of toilets and facilities.
On August 5, our guide went to Grand Canyon National Park.
Normally, the booth at the entrance of the park pays the entrance fee to the attendant (ranger), but in order to reduce contact as much as possible, payment of the entrance fee is limited to vending machines near the booth. I heard that
In addition, in some parts of Arizona, it is now mandatory to wear masks outside and in public places to prevent the spread of infection, and the grounds of Grand Canyon National Park are also within that range.
However, maybe some people do not know the news, and according to the guide, about 60% of people were wearing masks for sightseeing.
The photo is Mercer point. Enjoy the same grandeur!
About two months after the reopening of Arches National Park, our staff visited on July 20th to check the current status of Arches National Park. As you can see from the photo, although there are some tourists at each tourist attraction, I felt that it was significantly less than this summer vacation.
Perhaps the cause is the decrease in the number of tourists from overseas who would have come to sightseeing every year, and the decrease in the number of tourists from the distant places such as the east coast within the same United States.
However, as you can see in the picture, the wilderness of the United States is still there and we are waiting for your visit when the situation someday ends.
In addition, regarding the update information in the same Grand Circle area, the closure of Monument Valley and Antelope Canyon managed by Navajo people has been extended until August 16. Since the extension measures have been taken approximately every 2-3 weeks since the closure in March, it is possible that this may change in the future. In addition, we will inform you if there is an update.
Even in Japan, it seems that the ban on watching professional baseball stadiums has been lifted since July 10.
Recently, the number of people who are infected with corona has increased again in some areas in the United States, but
Finally, major sports have started to move. Basically it seems that there are many non-spectator holdings,
MLB (baseball) is scheduled to open on July 23 in the four major sports
NBA (basketball) scheduled to resume on July 30
NFL (American football) scheduled to open in August
Although only NHL (hockey) is scheduled to resume, the date has not been announced.
Meanwhile, American football "Raiders" will relocate to Las Vegas from 2020. The photo is from the new stadium and will be completed later this month.
You can see the Mandalay Bay Hotel signboard on the left side, but it was constructed across the highway from the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
The stadium name "Allegiant" is the name of an airline headquartered near Las Vegas.
It is not certain that the current Corona War will be able to watch regular games this year after the season starts,
American football is a very popular sport in Japan,
With the birth of this team and the stadium, I think Las Vegas will continue to grow.
When the situation calms down, please consider watching American football in Las Vegas, one of the real USA!
The photo shows the entrance of the venue where a show with the theme of Michael Jackson, MJ ONE of the Cirque du Soleil troupe was being held. Since July 1, Mandalay Bay, where the theater is located, has resumed operations, but it is likely that entertainment such as shows will return to Las Vegas for a while to prevent "denseness". In Japan, there was news that Cirque du Soleil applied for bankruptcy law, but according to local news, it seems that the policy is to resume activities centering on performances in Las Vegas when this pandemic is over.
Inside the Mandalay Bay Hotel, which was reopened on July 1, there were notices like those shown in the photo at various places. It is a board that describes measures to prevent the spread of corona infection. In addition to this, the temporary washrooms that I introduced before have been installed, and I strongly felt the intention to prevent the spread of infection together.
The number of people infected with corona has risen over the past few days on the west coast, including Nevada, but it seems that demand for domestic travel to Las Vegas is rising, probably because of the repulsion of self-restraint that has continued for a while.
On July 1, two large hotels have begun to reopen. ARIA Hotel and Mandalay Bay.
This time we would like to present you the state of ARIA Hotel. The decoration of the national flag stood out for Independence Day (July 4th). Nevada has been required to wear a mask in public places since June 26. You will always need a mask to move around in the casino.
Introducing our customers to the Grand Canyon! To protect Japan from the waterfront, we received an application from a customer in the United States and we were the first to guide the tour after the corona pandemic. The park was so vacant compared to the usual summer vacation, and the parking lot full of tour buses was usually rattled. Many people wear masks in the park, and it was observed that they were maintaining a social distance.
During the tour, we asked our staff and customers to wear masks in the car. Ventilation was performed whenever possible, and disinfection was performed frequently.
