In Canada, the new semester begins in September.
The federal government of Canada does not have an administrative agency like the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology that unifies education at the national level. The Ministry of Education of each provincial government creates its own curriculum that reflects the characteristics and cultural background of the region. The number of years of compulsory education and the grade divisions for elementary, junior high, and high schools also differ from state to state, and the discretion and authority of the school principal are characteristic. In Ontario, kindergarten-8th grade students go to school normally from September, but high school 9th-12th grade students have to switch school days and home days by 15 people. 4th-12th grade students must wear non-medical masks at school. Teachers will be provided with a face shield and medical mask.
Edmonton, Alberta's Board of Education requires elementary and junior high and high school 4th-12th grades and faculty to wear masks on campus. Distance learning is possible if parents and children wish. The cafeteria is operated with individually wrapped food, and the vending machine cannot be used because it is often touched.
British Columbia announced the reopening of the school in a five-step framework depending on the spread of the new coronavirus. At the time of infection, all elementary, junior high and high schools will be temporarily closed for remote learning only in stage 5.
