Ontario has mandated PCR testing for all international passengers arriving at Toronto International Airport (YYZ) from February 1st today in light of the increasing number of people infected with the mutant virus. Inspections are required twice, once after landing and 10 days later, with a fine of $ 750 for refusal. This is a precursor to the upcoming reinforcement of border measures introduced by the Federal Government of Canada.

PCR testing of arriving passengers is mandatory at Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, and Toronto airports designated as international destinations.
Passengers arriving on international flights must book in advance a hotel designated by the Government of Canada (a hotel directly connected to the airport?). Voluntarily quarantined at the hotel for about 3 days until the PCR test results are available. All costs for inspections, accommodation, meals, etc. are expected to be about $ 2,000 per person. If the PCR test you received at the airport on arrival is positive, you will either stay in a government-designated quarantine or be transferred to a medical institution. Even if it is negative, it requires 14 days of self-quarantine at home. The government will strengthen the surveillance system. Violations of the quarantine order will result in six months in prison, a fine of $ 75,000, or both.
If you enter Canada by land from the United States, you will soon need a negative PCR test certificate. However, commercial truck drivers who frequently travel between the United States and Canada are excluded.
