Victory Day was celebrated throughout Russia on Sunday, May 9th.
More than 27 million Soviet soldiers and civilians were killed during World War II. Victory Day is an important holiday for Russians, as many Russians have casualties to their relatives. Every year, a commemorative military parade is held on the Red Square in Moscow. This year's parade was attended by 12,500 people, showing 190 military equipment and 76 planes and helicopters.
All the soldiers who participated were vaccinated against the new coronavirus and did not wear masks.
It was locked down last year, but this year a lot of people went out to play with friends and family and enjoy fireworks at night.

In 1969 the animation director for Soyuzmultfilm created a puppet animation. Since then, Cheburashka has become a popular character.
From January 2023, a movie remake of the animation "Cheburashka" was released in Russia and became a hit during the New Year holidays. The movie theater was full of children. "Cheburashka" is the highest-grossing Russian film of all time, with over 5 billion rubles at the box office.
