[Notice] Changes to Tanzania entry visas
Nov. 8, 2024, 10:16 p.m.
To all those living in Tanzania and those planning to travel there
As we informed you the other day, we have been notified that the abolition of e-visas for entering Tanzania and visas on arrival applied for at arrival airports and border immigration offices after November 30th will be temporarily suspended.
The Tanzanian government recommends online applications for e-visas, so we ask that you use the e-visa wherever possible, and for the time being, the visa on arrival will continue as a kind of insurance in case the process does not go smoothly.
[Reference] Regarding e-visas,
・Even if I apply, there is no response by email.
・I entered my card information and the payment was withdrawn, but I haven't received the visa yet.
・The withdrawal never took place and I was unable to receive a visa.
We have received such inquiries from the Embassy of Japan, and have conveyed the visa applicants' circumstances and inquiries to the Tanzanian Immigration Bureau, but the situation has not been completely resolved. This may be related to the differences in the internet environment, email security levels, and server conditions in each country.
If you are planning to travel on business from Japan or neighboring countries, please obtain a Business Visa instead of an Ordinary Visa.
We have received consultations from business travelers who have entered the country and been pointed out by police officers and immigration officials and almost taken away.
In Tanzania, all business-related trips, such as site visits, business negotiations, and contracts, are considered to be business trips. Please be careful.
If you have any inquiries regarding Tanzanian visas, please contact the Tanzanian Embassy in Japan or the Tanzanian Immigration Bureau directly.
