[Warning] Possible outbreak of Chikungunya fever
June 23, 2025, 6:15 p.m.
According to an announcement by the French Ministry of Health, cases of chikungunya fever have been confirmed in several people returning to France from Madagascar. In addition, some media reports in Madagascar have reported cases of patients in the Nosy Be region with symptoms similar to chikungunya fever.
Since August 2024, widespread outbreaks of chikungunya fever have been confirmed on the island of Reunion, and local cases of infection have been increasing on the island of Mayotte, prompting the WHO to issue a warning.
Chikungunya fever is a mosquito-borne infectious disease, and if you are infected, you will experience symptoms such as fever, joint pain, and a rash. It is recommended that you avoid places where mosquitoes are abundant and use repellents (insect repellents) to prevent infection, and that you visit a hospital and receive appropriate treatment if you experience any of the above symptoms.
