Warning: Anti-Muslim demonstrations in Arnhem and Amsterdam (Thursday, April 3)
April 3, 2025, 1:20 a.m.
[Main text]
There is a possibility that an anti-Islam group (Pegida Netherlands) will hold a Quran burning demonstration in front of the District Court in Arnhem from 12:30pm on Thursday, April 3rd, and in front of Stopera (a concert hall) in Amsterdam from 6:00pm on the same day.
The group reported that it burned a Quran in Oslo, Norway in March 2024.
A similar demonstration was also held in January 2024 at the Jansplein in Arnhem, but the attempt to burn the Quran ended in failure due to numerous acts of obstruction. As seen above, the group has damaged the Quran, and people have thrown stones in response. Given the recent international situation, if this demonstration is held, it is possible that the situation could develop in an unexpected direction, such as a clash with people who oppose the demonstration. On the day of the demonstration, do not approach the demonstrators out of curiosity, and be careful not to get caught up in an unexpected situation. Also, pay attention to television and newspaper reports, and make an effort to obtain the latest information. If you happen to come across a demonstration, please leave the area immediately.
