[Main text]
1. No official announcement has been made by the Pakistani government, but at present it is expected that the period of Ramadan (the fasting month) and the festival at the end of Ramadan (Eid al-Fitr) will last for approximately one month from around Sunday, March 2nd.
During this period and before and after, several terrorist attacks have occurred in the past, so it is necessary to be more vigilant than usual against terrorism, especially during the final week of Ramadan, when religious sentiment is said to be at its highest.
In addition, as the sun sets, the number of cars traveling at high speeds increases and the concentration of security and security personnel decreases, so even more caution is required.
We ask that Japanese nationals residing in the country and those currently staying or planning to travel to the area take the following precautions and act with safety in mind.
(1) Obtain the latest safety information from various local news sources and be mindful of safe behavior.
(2) Avoid approaching places that are likely to be targets of attacks (religious facilities, government agencies, military, police and other security authority facilities (including vehicles, checkpoints, etc.), media organizations, and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) related business sites). When you need to run errands in other places (foreign-owned hotels and fast food restaurants, European and American facilities, UN agencies, public transportation, restaurants, markets, etc.), try to complete your business quickly and efficiently, always pay attention to your surroundings, and immediately leave the area if you notice any suspicious situation.
(3) Never go near places where religious events or gatherings are taking place.
(4) If you encounter a rally, demonstration, etc. while traveling, leave the area immediately.
