Japanese nationals injured (robbery and assault on the street)

2. Location of the incident: Near Rua da Consolacao, 1100, Higienopolis, Sao Paulo

3. Summary of the incident The victim was walking along the street mentioned above, heading to the Higienopolis-Mackenzie subway station, when a man strangled him from behind with such force that he was unable to breathe. As he struggled to break free, another man appeared and struck him multiple times in the head and face with an iron bar. When the victim's strength had subsided, the assailant stole his smartphone from his pocket, threw him to the ground and fled.
The two thieves were young men in their late teens to 30s wearing hooded sweatshirts. The incident took place about 20 to 30 meters from a subway station, and there were no people or cars on the streets at the time of the incident.
