2. Don't forget to check the validity period of your passport and the number of pages remaining in the visa section!
(1) If you are planning to return to Japan or travel abroad during the New Year holidays, please be sure to check the validity period of your passport and the number of remaining visa pages.
To enter ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, your passport must be valid for at least six months.
Also, some countries require multiple blank pages for the visa section (this varies by country, so please contact the airline or the overseas embassy in your destination country for details).
If you have family or friends coming to Vietnam, please inform them to remember to check the remaining validity period of their passports.
(2) Starting March 24, 2025, Japanese passports will be produced in Japan.
If you apply for a passport change at our Embassy, it usually takes about one month from application to issuance, but it may take longer during the New Year period.
Also, if you renew your passport in Vietnam, please note that the residence visa on your old passport will need to be transferred to your new passport before you leave the country, and this process in Vietnam will take several days.

3. Take great care when managing your passport!

(2) Please take care of your passport in the same way as you would any other valuable item.
